Rumors have been flying around since early 2016 about the possible arrival of the Honda S660, Honda’s ultra small sports car, in America this year.
The S660, with its mid-engine layout and three-cylinder engine, belongs to a class of cars in Japan known as kei cars, which are extremely small subcompacts with low power. Reports from January, however, indicate that the American export version may come with a more powerful engine that puts out more than 125 hp.
Last week, a Honda S660 was reportedly seen in Tennessee, which went along well with the recent string of rumors and teases from Honda as it sparked debate over whether the car was a prototype for the American version. It was soon discovered, though, that the S660 being driven around Tennessee’s highways belonged to the Lane Motor Museum located in Nashville.
It’s also been rumored that the American version of the S660, the 1.0-liter 4-cylinder, has already been greenlit and renamed the S1000. We can’t wait to see how this develops!
